Kripalu
Yoga
Kripalu Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga that
defines itself as therapeutic, and spiritually focused. It
uses yoga concepts of inner focus and meditation along with
standard yoga poses and "breathwork," as well as
"development of a quiet mind" and relaxation. Kripalu
emphasizes "following the flow" of prana, or life-force
energy, compassionate self-acceptance, observing the activity
of the mind without judgment, and taking what is learned into
daily life.
Beginners
Yoga
Specifically for students looking to build
a practice by developing strength, flexibility and their understanding
of yoga.
Community

This class is instructed by newly graduated teachers.
There is a $5 fee to participate. Passholders

East-West
Fusion (Cancelled until the Fall)
We invite you to a great new class called
“East-West Fusion”. This unique class includes
warm up calisthenics, Yoga, Qi-Gong, Core Body exercises ,
deep breathing excercises, and an amazing stress reduction
closing and meditation that will leave you floating out of
the class.
The energy healing components of the classes
are taught at Zen Temples in Korea that specialize in martial
arts. East-West Fusion is considered the ultimate stress reducer
and its the ideal program to end the work week with.
This class has the goal of clearing the
10 Sen Lines, the energy lines in the body closely related
to Chinese meridian lines. Energy centers along the Sen lines
can get blocked or imbalanced. Pon Klie calisthenics are used
at the begining to release tired, stagnant, unhealthy energy
and to open up Sen lines and the main energy centers in the
body. Stretching and tapping are also done to wake up all
the acupuncture points along the meridian system. Then the
most effective Zen Qi-Gong exercises are introduced to infuse
fresh Qi (life force energy) into the body to restore proper
energy flow and balance.
Benefits Include: Increased overall fitness,
flexibility and toning of the muscles, reduced stress level
/ tolerance, improved blood pressure, stronger bones, joints,
tendons and ligaments, massaging of all organs of the body,
reduced anxiety and depression, relieving chronic pain, improved
balance and coordination, improved sleep quality (such as
staying asleep longer at night and feeling more alert during
the day) improved vitality and everyday physical functioning.
**You will leave each class with the
tools and experience that may be applied to everyday life.
As acclaimed
cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz, vice-chair and professor
of surgery at Columbia University and director of the Cardiovascular
Institute and Complementary Medicine Program writes in his
best selling book ‘Staying Young’: “Qi-Gong
allows us to cope with the day to day struggle of being human
– it can help us stretch and stay loose and balanced
in both mind and body.” On the Ophra Winfrey show in
November he simply put it this way, "If you want to be
healthy and live to be 100, do Qi-Gong." He also added
that Qi-gong reverses the aging process.

Hot
Yoga
Hot yoga is a sequence of postures and breathing
exercises designed to systematically cleanse every part of
the body and provide a complete mind/body workout. The heat
warms and relaxes the entire body, promotes suppleness and
the release of toxins, allowing the body to be in a balanced
state. The heat allows for a deeper stretch to help avoid
injury. Regular practice of Hot Yoga will improve muscle tone,
normalize weight, burn fat, strengthen the immune system and
support a vibrant health and well-being.

Hot
Flow Yoga
A dynamic form of yoga where one posture
flows into the next. This form of yoga develops fitness and
promotes relaxation. It maximizes strength, flexibility and
concentration. Students are introduced to the fundamentals
of flowing sequences and breath.
This class is performed in a reduced-heat environment due
to the nature of the sequencing which promotes its own body
heat and detoxification.
Prior yoga experience suggested.

If you need to eat prior to class, eat lightly.

water before, during, and after class.

drink water or fruit juice to replace water and minerals
lost during the sweat.

Precautions
Although Hot Yoga is fabulous for most
people, some should be cautious. If you have never done
Yoga before or are not physically active, try a level
1 class or an all levels class first. If you have done
yoga before, but not Hot Yoga, then start slowly. Don’t
push yourself and just do what you can. Your primary focus
is to acclimatize your body to the heat, not to keep up
with the class.
I would not recommended hot yoga for
children, those who are pregnant, have heart disease,
low blood pressure, or if you are taking certain medications.
If in doubt, please consult your physician before
starting this or any kind of physical exercise.
Participants can loose water during
a session. Without replacement, such high water loss can
lead to fatigue and nausea. Drinking fresh fruit juice
or water during and after a hot class is highly recommended.
Further, you should eat plenty of greens and a variety
of vegetables to replace essential minerals that are lost
in sweat.
How Hot Yoga Works
The heated room raises body temperature
and the body reacts by raising the heart rate to a mild
aerobic range. This increases blood flow, opens capillaries
for greater blood flow to sluggish areas, opens pores
and creates deep sweat that flushes out toxins.
For thousands of years, many cultures around the world
have enjoyed the therapeutic benefits of heat therapy.
They have recognized that heat rids the body of toxins,
aids in weight loss and kills viruses.
Radiant, infra-red heat is the same
heat many physicians and therapists use to treat muscle
injury and strains. This heat is also energy efficient.
Our hot room is specifically designed to provide a dryer,
more traditional sauna-type heat, versus a wetter, more
humid environment. Our dryer room has significantly less
airborne bacteria and mould, and our room is disinfected
with natural, non-toxic, antibacterial cleansers.
Our dryer environment causes sweating,
thereby helping to rid the body of toxins. A daily sweat
can help reduce the body’s accumulation of lead,
mercury, nickel, cadmium, sodium, sulfuric acid and cholesterol.
Heat is beneficial if weight loss is
desired because of the increased energy expenditure. Heat
uses up more calories, resulting in the body to burn fat
and carbohydrates. In addition, sweat glands must work
harder to produce sweat, which requires more energy and
more calories. Studies have shown that a person can burn
up to 600 calories in a single hot class, which is equivalent
of a 4-6 mile jog!
The infra-red heat promotes more detoxification
than any other type of workout. During any other exercise,
the body expels approx 3% of toxins, our infra-red yoga
expels up to 15% toxins.

Pilates Bootcamp
This class has its basis in classical
pilates with a bootcamp style twist. This challenging workout
will give you a great 1 hour cardio and strength training

major muscle group each week) followed by a well-deserved
stretch and cool-down.
Pilates with

challenge the core during the classical Pilates exercises.
Additional exercises are incorporated to tone arms and legs.
This is a total body work out. The weights add resistance
and challenge! Be prepared to work!
